House Rules
Dice Rolling

Do not roll unless the DM asks.

Dice are used only when:

Failure has meaningful consequences.

Success carries significant weight.
-

If nothing meaningful is at stake, no roll is required.

The DM determines when rolls apply.
Shopping & Components
-
Keep shopping simple whenever possible.
-
Spell components are not required unless they are consumed.
-
Monster essence exists as a harvestable resource (see below).
Grappling
-
Grapple checks are opposed Athletics checks.
-
While grappling:
-
You can only attack the creature grappling you.
-
The grappler can only attack the creature they are grappling.
-
This includes spells and ranged attacks.
-
Held Actions
-
You may hold an action, but must specify:
-
The exact action.
-
The specific trigger.
-

You may hold a non-damage actions or bonus actions in anticipation of combat.
Non-Lethal Damage
-
Any damage may be declared non-lethal.
-
It cannot exceed kill damage.
-
You must declare it as non-lethal when making the attack.
Monster Essence Identification & Harvesting

You may use an Action to identify the essence of a rare or abnormal creature.
-
On success, you determine:
-
Where the creature’s magical essence resides.
-
What material component must be harvested.
-
-
The identified component must be harvested within one turn of the creature’s death.
-
If not harvested within that window, the essence dissipates.
-
Harvested essence can be used in crafting:
-
Armor
-
Weapons
-
Magical items with special properties.
